ProjectSEARCH Gives Back

On this day, there were no internship rotations.

There were no soft skills classes. No interviewing tips. No time devoted to sprucing up one’s resume.

But there were lessons learned. Lessons that will likely live with this year’s Project SEARCH students for quite a long while.

This day was United Way’s annual Community Care Day. And the Project SEARCH students were part of a volunteer army that was 325 strong and worked on 47 project sites throughout Fairfield County.

Project SEARCH is a program that brings transition students from throughout the county to Fairfield Medical Center, where they serve internships in departments throughout the medical center and learn job skills designed to help them become successful upon graduation next June.

It’s a joint project between Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools, Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, FairfieldDD and FMC.

This is the third year that students have volunteered their time to Community Care Day.
