Preschool Forest Rose
Preschool
Description The Early Childhood Center provides educational opportunities and services to children with special needs. Typically developed children are also enrolled. The program is in session four days per week, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00am-3:00pm.
Services The preschool offers a curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices. The program areas include socialization, motor skills, language, self-help, cognitive and readiness. Related services include: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Pathology, Adapted Physical Education, and Transportation. The children are provided with many opportunities for self-expression through creative activities. All teachers and teacher assistants are certified by the Ohio Department of Education.
Eligibility Children between three and five years of age who reside in Fairfield County and have a documented disability are eligible for the program. Evaluations are completed by the child’s school district to determine the area of disability. There is no charge for the evaluation.
Intake Initial intake activities are the responsibility of the child’s school district. The district may be contacted by the parent, a physician or any other referral source. When eligibility is established, the Early Childhood Center Preschool may be considered as a placement if it is the setting which would best meet the child’s needs.

Forest Rose School
Description Forest Rose School provides an educational program for students with Multi-handicaps. It is a fully chartered public school located in a separate facility.
Services Forest Rose School provides a curriculum based on functional living skills and life experiences. Related services include: Transportation, Speech Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Adapted Physical Education and Vocational Services.
Eligibility Placement at Forest Rose School is available only for students who are eligible for services in an Ohio Department of Education multi-handicapped classroom. The Individual Educational Plan team consisting of the child’s parents, the local school district and a representative from Forest Rose School must agree on the placement.
Intake The student’s local school district completes the initial evaluation. A referral is made and the Individual Educational Plan is developed. When the IEP team believed that Forest Rose School is the best educational placement, the enrollment activities take place.
